My Background
I have been gardening professionally for twelve years. I left a career in the media in 1997 having worked with the Gardeners
World team. I trained with the Women’s Farm and Garden Association and worked in the gardens of the Grosvenor Estate in
Westminster and at Eltham Palace in South London.
I studied garden and planting design at Capel Manor College, passed the RHS Advanced Certificate in Horticulture and am a member of the Professional Gardeners' Guild.
Over the last few years, I have designed and maintained many private gardens in London and Sussex. I am now living on the south coast and enjoying
seaside and country gardening.
I enjoy every aspect of planning and caring for gardens and involve the customer throughout the process.
I am always delighted to maintain and develop gardens and see the planting maturing over time, learn more about the way the plants grow together and make any changes to improve the scheme.
I garden as organically as possible using compost to improve the structure of the soil before planting and organic fertilisers. I avoid soil conditioners based on peat and use he only
when absolutely necessary.
In December 2009 we took over the tenancy of Bodiam Nursery. Crocosmia has a new home situated among a fine collection of Acers in
a beautiful setting opposite Bodiam Castle on the other side of the Rother valley. Between Merriments and Great Dixter it is well worth a visit!
